Minutes
The meeting was well attended both online (20 people) and in person (15 people) and thank you to everyone who attended. Questions were very constructive about the use of AI EMMA which will be going live in February 2026
Questions included:
How about check up or reviews like diabetes or asthma patients ?
They will be included in an admin routine appointment with EMMA transcribing to the Accurx Form for the patient
Are you able to switch it off quickly if there's some outage on the back-end
Yes it will switch to usual phoning in to the reception team
Is this going to be permanent or is it going to be reviewed and evaluated?
We will be evaluating it from day 1 and we hope that it will provide a valued and useful service to provide equity in access via phone lines as is currently using online access.
How does the system deal with different accents?
EMMA is trained in the first few weeks by listening to our patient population for short periods each day. It also has access to 15 different language translation
Feedback from patients included:
"I think the benefits of freeing up receptionists' time dealing with a repetitve and time-consuming time is very much worth giving this a shot.
The ability to speak to a human isn't being taken away, and it is quite likely that the medical staff will call us back quicker due to the speed of calls being managed."
